IPL 2025 Live Report: SRH vs MI – Despite Klaasen’s 71, MI Tie the Game & Rohit Keeps Soaring
Even though Heinrich Klaasen smashed a solid 71, Mumbai Indians (MI) managed to tie the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), thanks to some late brilliance from their batters, especially Rohit Sharma.
During the 14th over, Harshal Patel was taken to the cleaners — 15 runs came off it, including three boundaries from Rohit. He played a cut, a flick, and a beautifully placed paddle sweep.
Rohit brought up his half-century off 35 balls, continuing a remarkable pattern this season where he has improved his score with every innings. His scores so far: 0, 8, 13, 17, 18, 26, and 76*. It’s been a joy for fans to see him back in rhythm and timing the ball so cleanly.
At the 11-over mark, MI were 85/2, needing just 59 runs off 54 balls. Earlier, they were 77/2 in 9.2 overs, showing good momentum during the chase.
There was an interesting moment when Zeeshan Ansari dismissed Will Jacks. Jacks went for a big hit — one he would’ve cleared on most pitches — but the slightly slower surface didn’t offer enough bounce or pace, and he holed out to long-on. Replays showed there was a bit of grip and turn from Ansari too.
At the start, MI were off to a solid powerplay, scoring 56/1. Rohit was on 27 off 16, and Jacks on 18 off 12. The ball started to come on better as the game progressed — a stark contrast from when SRH were batting.
Another milestone came as Rohit overtook Kieron Pollard to become MI’s all-time leading six-hitter with 259 sixes. The 259th was a gem — stepping across, he reached out to Jaydev Unadkat’s slower ball and lofted it effortlessly over long-off. Vintage Rohit!
Speaking of Unadkat, he got an early breakthrough by dismissing Ryan Rickelton in the second over. A hard-length delivery gripped a bit, and Rickelton mistimed it straight back to the bowler. Unadkat completed a sharp return catch with his left hand in his follow-through.
By 1.4 overs, MI were 13/1. Fast-forward to 4 overs, they had powered their way to 43/1, with Rohit and Jacks taking on Pat Cummins. In Cummins’ third over, both batters hit sixes, milking 17 runs from it.
